Abstract

Stereotactic ablative radiotherapy is the standard treatment for patients with stage I non-small cell lung cancer who are unfit for surgery or refuse surgery. Surveillance imaging is to assess treatment response and pulmonary toxicity, detect local recurrence and secondary lung cancer. The early detection of recurrence is important for patients for whom a salvage therapy is available. However, changes in lung density on computed tomography are common after stereotactic ablative radiotherapy and can confound the early detection of recurrence.1877-1203/© 2022 SPLF.
