Abstract
99mTc pertechnetate is actively concentrated by gastric mucosa. This feature was applied to the detection of ectopic gastric mucosa in Meckel's diverticula in children, using external imaging. In 45 patients studied, 10 diverticula were encountered, and surgical pathology showed that 8 of these were lined with gastric mucosa. Four of the 8 yielded a visible preoperative concentration of radionuc1ide.
