Abstract

A Radiometric technique was developed for the analysis of transformations between subsystems in a stable sol of “solid/liquid” type. A silver iodide sol was used as a model. In stable silver iodide sols embryos disappear transforming into the solid phase; silver iodide particles grow, and the metaphasic silver iodide disappears converting to the solid phase. In order to follow the phase transformation, a radiometric analysis of the silver iodide mass distribution was made using 131I −. The results obtained show that the radiotracer technique is convenient for following phase transformations in systems of this type.
