Abstract

Goal. The goal of this Web site is to provide a digital library of up-to-date radiology education resources that can be used by radiologists at the point of care to seek answers to questions to improve patient care, outcomes, and lives. Learning Objectives. The objective of the site is to show radiologists how to use a digital library to seek answers to clinical questions at the point of care. Content. A digital library can be defined as an organized collection of information that can be used to answer questions. Radiologists often have questions about imaging studies they are performing and interpreting. Traditionally, seeking answers to questions has been difficult because of barriers to accessing information at the point of care. Today, the transformation of radiology into a digital profession through the implementation of PACS (picture archiving and communication system) and the use of the Internet in reading rooms promises to lower barriers to accessing information at the point of care. Unfortunately, access to the Internet is not enough because the vast amount of information available is disorganized and often of questionable authority. The most common method for seeking information on the Internet—using a search engine—often results in failure and user frustration. Digital libraries hold the promise of bringing order to the chaos of the Internet. RadiologyEducation.com is a digital library of authoritative radiology education resources on the Internet.
