Abstract

The second edition of Dr Swischuk's book provides a much-needed comprehensive overview of neonatal and infant radiology. The text has been revised and updated, and has been greatly expanded to include reviews of recent developments and concepts in the study of gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and neurological problems encountered in the neonate and young infant. Noteworthy areas of coverage that would be of interest to pediatricians and radiologists include topics such as the use of ultrasound in the detection of intracranial hemorrhage, urinary tract abnormalities, and infection, gastroesophageal reflux, and neonatal sepsis. Discussions about techniques of examination of these small patients including integration and illustration of the roles and uses of ultrasound and computed tomography, as well as pitfalls of interpretation and normal variants, make this a useful book for reference to over and over again.
