Abstract

The vast variety and complexity of procedures done in vascular interventional radiology necessitates highly specialized and experienced nursing care throughout the procedures. Although no specific qualification is currently required to practice as Vascular Interventional radiology (VIR) nurse in Saudi Arabia, most employers require prior experience in intensive care units, emergency rooms, or post anesthesia care units. Here we report our institutional experience in specialized nursing training in vascular interventional radiology. This proposed program prepares graduate nurses to practice VIR nursing with greater level of competency.
