Abstract
SummaryA sensitive and specific radioimmunoassay for 8-hydroxyadenine has been developed. As little as 4 × 10−14 moles of 8-hydroxyadenine can be detected. Unmodified DNA cross-reacts only at concentrations greater than 20 μg/ml. 8-hydroxyadenine can be detected in γ-irradiated DNA at doses less than 10 Gy. The assay requires only mild chemical treatment and many samples can be quickly and easily handled.
