Abstract

Ameloblastoma is a benign tumor found in gnathic bones that originates from remnants of the dental blade. According to their clinical characteristics they have slow growth, are locally invasive, and radiographically, can present as unilateral or multilocular radiolucent lesions, with well-defined limits. A male patient attended a dental radiology clinic to perform cone beam computed tomography, and through this examination it was possible to observe the presence of multilocular hypodense images in the body and branch of the left jaw, associated with an even tooth; the diagnostic hypothesis was multilocular ameloblastoma. The patient was referred for histopathological examination, and the diagnosis was confirmed. Ameloblastoma, because it is aggressive, has a high percentage of recurrence and the prognosis depends on several factors, so the clinical, radiographic, and histopathological aspects are extremely important because they define their biological behavior.
