Abstract

Abstract A method has been developed using quantitation of 14C by liquid scintillation to differentiate natural from synthetic cinnamic aldehyde. The method uses the isolation of cinnamic aldehyde from cinnamon and the determination of the percent modern carbon (14C), to detect the presence of petroleum-derived cinnamic aldehyde.
