Abstract

By autoradiographic studies with H3-thymidine it is demonstrated that the percentage of labelled nuclei is very low in the anterior pituitary of normal untreated rats and of rats 14 days after thyreoidectomy. Following castration, however, a marked increase of DNA-synthesizing cells occurs as well as an increase of mitotic figures.
