Abstract

Specimens of the snail, Helix pomatia, were investigated for contamination due to Sr90 Shells of adult animals had an ash content of 96 to 98% containing 95 to 98%; CaCO3. The Sr90 activity varied from <5 to 63 μμc/g. Correlation between the type of soil and the Sr90 activity of the shells was evident.
