Abstract

The test facilities at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility (HRIBF) devoted to testing radioactive ion beam targets and ion sources are described. Beginning in 1992 various capabilities have been developed to support the RIB research mission of HRIBF. These facilities provide direct measurements of release efficiency from target materials, yields (ions/sec and efficiency) and hold up times from target/ion source configurations. In addition, target/ion source configurations can be easily tested and retested after configuration changes to provide optimized operating parameters for new target materials and ion sources.
