Abstract

Sporadic meteor rates were measured with a 17 Mc/s radar on selected days during and subsequent to the International Geophysical Year. The magnitude distribution for faint (8 m to 10 m ) radio meteors is found to correspond to a flux increase of 2.9 for a unit increase in magnitude and the total influx is estimated. The observed echo rates and range distributions are compared with those predicted for model radiant distributions. This analysis lends strong support for the existence of a significant proportion of high inclination orbits.
