Abstract

Radio observations are presented of 325 early-type emission-line stars in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Forty-four of these have been detected as radio sources. For 85 of the programme stars, characterized by optical forbidden lines and hot circumstellar dust, the detection rate exceeds 30 per cent. The radio emission appears to be thermal in origin, and 13 of the detected stars have radio spectra of the approximate form |$S\propto\nu$| indicating the presence of a circumstellar envelope formed by prolonged mass outflow.
