Abstract

Radio frequency current generation is studied in a toroidal plasma without slide-away electrons. The wave velocities are chosen to be three or five times as large as the electron thermal velocity. The wave-particle resonant interaction accelerates electrons in the direction of wave propagation. The current generation due to the potential change by r.f. dominates over that due to the resonant electrons.
