Abstract

The article offers the main results of an empirical research project which has been concentrated on the issues of strategic behaviour of medium and large business firms in five main industrial sectors, after the foundation of Slovenia as an independent state and after the beginning of the transition period in the country in 1990. The most important strategic objectives and goals as well as the main types of radical strategies which have been implemented in the firms are identified and the most significant implementation problems are highlighted. Finally, an assessment is made of how successful the restructuring processes have been on the enterprise level up to now.
