Abstract

AbstractA simple protocol to generate radical chlorine species by ligand exchange in hypervalent iodine(III) compounds is reported. Radical chlorine species, not electrophilic chlorine species, are required for Pd‐catalyzed directed CH chlorination and ammonium salts can be used as radical chlorine sources.
