Abstract
Detailed master equation calculations were carried out on radical recombination reactions that produce ethane, propane, n-butane, benzene, and toluene. When infrared emission from the excited species is included, the recombination reactions occur at low and moderate temperatures with near unit efficiency, even in the complete absence of stabilizing collisions. Unimolecular reaction rate calculations that neglect this effect may be seriously in error
