Abstract

Radiative lifetimes for 2p53s, 2p53p and 2p53d states of the positive ions Al IV and Cl VIII of the Ne isoelectronic series have been calculated in the multiconfigurational optimized potential model. The appropriate diagonal elements in the Breit-Pauli matrix were altered so that the calculated energy separations within each JΠ space are in agreement with the corresponding observed values. The resulting calculated lifetimes were compared to observed as well as to other theoretical values.
