Abstract

Radiative lifetimes for the 3s 1P10, 4p 1D2, and 4p 1S0 levels of CI are measured using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) on a slow beam of atomic carbon. A simple method is reported for generating an atomic beam rich in metastable carbon atoms.
