Abstract

We present a method for calculating the radiative plasmon polariton dispersion spectrum of a system composed of finite thickness concentric infinitely long cylindrical layers. The dispersion expression is written in a matrix form and it allows the simultaneous solution for the real part, associated with the energy, and the imaginary part, associated with the lifetime, of the modes. We apply this model to two systems consisting of silver and carbon concentric cylindrical layers. The calculated real and imaginary parts of the spectra are investigated in terms of the number of layers, curvature, size, and dielectric properties of the system.
