Abstract

Radiative decays of mesons are formulated in the framework of a collective stringlike model using a spectrum generating algebra (SGA). The SGA $\mathcal{G}$ generates both the internal and geometric excitations of mesons. Using a simple physical ansatz for $\mathcal{G}$, we obtain analytic results for the decay widths and masses of ($Q\overline{Q}$) mesons. We present a detailed study of the electromagnetic decays of light mesons.
