Abstract
The Bulgarian National Cyclotron Centre at the Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (INRNE-BAS), is going to be a new facility dedicated to production of medical radioisotopes and research in the corresponding fields. This work details the shielding requirements of the facility and the preliminary radiological studies that we have carried out. The activity concentration of the long-lived radioisotopes is also evaluated which provides a useful guideline for the decommissioning plan of the facility. For these purposes we have performed simulations with the Monte Carlo particle transport and interaction code FLUKA.
