Abstract

Abstract The Li2SiO3, Li4SiO4 and LiAlO2 ceraraics are proposed to be used in the blankets of a fusion reactor for the tritium breeding. Irradiation Ceramic tablets manufactured of this materials were irradiated in a nuclear reactor with themial neutron flux about 5 1013 s-1 cm-2 up to the fluences 7.1019–1.4.1021 cm-2 in the range. Geometrical parameters, density and cornpression strength value of the tablets were studied in the experiments, along with the gas emission out of the ceramics. The results of study show the ability these materials to be used under irradiation by thermal neutrons up to the fluences above 1.4 1021 cm-2 and under burning-out of more than 2.5% of lithium. They may be considered as possible materials for blankets of fusion reactors.
