Abstract

This article studied the effect of temperature on the radiation induced degradation of fluorine containing elastomers, i.e. AFLAS type (Asahi glass Co. Ltd) and VITON type (Du pont). The temperature range is from 90 to 200°C. The irradiation was performed by 60Co γ-ray in air oven. Dose rate was 2.5 kGy/h. The weight loss by irradiation increases with increasing temperatures. Ultimate elongation decreases with increasing dose but temperature dependence is small. It was found out that AFLAS type have better radiation resistant properties than VITON type from the experiments.
