Abstract

An analysis of experimental and published data on the buildup of free radicals and some low-molecular-weight degradation products of aerated native glucose high polymers γ-irradiated (dose rate of 3 Gy/s) at T ∼ 300 K over the dose range 0.001–4 MGy was performed. On this basis, a conclusion was drawn that the formation of primary macroradicals, the degradation of polymers, and the amorphization of crystallites in them are primarily due to the radiolysis of polymer-structured water molecules.
