Abstract

AbstractThe effects of a thick cover layer on the radiation characteristics of a microstrip patch antenna are investigated. A magnetic line source model has been used to derive explicit expressions for the far field, radiated power, directivity, and surface wave of the antenna. Numerical results are presented to show the effects of a lossless as well as a lossy dielectric cover layer on the surface waves and the radiated power.
