Abstract

Radial profiles of the emission from upper- and lower-laser-level atoms (Ne 3s2 and 2p4, respectively) have been investigated in a He-Ne laser. The obtained profiles of emission from Ne 3s2-level atoms are appreciably broader than the zero-order Bessel function profile. Change in the radial profiles of population inversion brought about by lasing action have also been investigated and a significant dip in the tube center is observed.
