Abstract

Abstract By interferometric investigation data for radial inhomogeneities in excitation and profile of some copper lines and for the population of 4p2p° level of CuI in hollow cathode discharge are obtained. Observed dependence of the line profile width on the radial location of the emitting volume is interpreted through the varying ratio of Lorentz and Gauss components in the line profile emitted from various discharge volumes. The maximum population of 4p2p° level of CuI in the region of applied pressure and discharge current is observed when the copper line is emitted along the cathode axis.
