Abstract

The results of a study, using electron-probe x-ray-spectral microanalysis, of the radial distribution of the burnup and accumulation of plutonium in the fuel elements of power reactors and the research reactor MIR, irradiated to maximum burnup 70 MW·days/kg, are presented. The influence of the initial enrichment with 235U and cross-section-averaged burnup on the total accumulation and radial distribution of plutonium is analyzed. The special features of burnup of gadolinium-containing fuel are determined.
