Multiple periods of38 Cnc. Breger, M. Abstract A multiple-frequency, nonlinear, least squares analysis, which searches for up to three frequencies simultaneously, is applied to photoelectric observations of 38 Cancri. Three periods of 0.10228d, 0.1269d, and 0.1682d are found. The period ratios of P2/P1 = 0.806 and P1/P0 = 0.755 indicate radial pulsation. The period lengths are in agreement with the position of the star in the H-R diagram. These new frequencies give lower residuals than the three nonradial periods in the literature for the observations in common. Also, previously unpublished 1967-1968 observations cannot be fitted by the nonradial periods, but can be fitted to plus or minus 0.002m with the new periods. There is some evidence that the amplitude of the second overtone P2 increased from 1967-1968 to 1975-1976.
