Abstract

Alpha-numerics are used to identify broadband radar targets on a p.p.i. display for air traffic controllers. A technique for writing the broadband data is described which reduces the time required to a constant time independent of radar display range. This constant time can be chosen so that adequate time is allotted for the writing of radar target associated alpha-numeric data. For alpha-numerics to be usable some method of association must be provided between the alpha-numerics and the radar target. The digital conversion techniques will allow for target detection outside the time domain.
