Abstract

The bandwidth of LFM radar signal is often taken as the approximation of the range resolution estimation. Its establishment condition is that the time-bandwidth product has to be much larger than 1, and its accuracy is also greatly affected by the bandwidth estimation algorithm, spectrum devices and so on. In terms of other modulated radar signals, the resolution estimation depends on the explicit recognition and accurate estimation of the parameters. In view of this, this paper proposes a resolution estimation algorithm based on the definition of ambiguity function. The simulation by MATLAB verifies the feasibility of this method, and it has higher estimation accuracy. This method has a clear mathematical mechanism and simple procedure, and can reflect the real resolution affected by various factors in space propagation.
