Abstract

This paper describes airborne radar data simulator which is designed to work along with airborne radar for injecting target data in synchronization with actual radar operation. The motivation for designing the system is to cut down the number of flying hours required for testing airborne radar, evaluate algorithms and their efficacies on ground, simulate load conditions to evaluate and fine tune radar resource management, simulate and test erroneous conditions, benchmark and fine tune real time performance of various subsystems in lab and act as valuable aid to complete DO-178B level-C airborne software certification for mission critical application. The simulator is cost effective solution for all test requirements and is built on open source Linux platform. Further the design is modularized and the simulator can be adapted and configured for testing any Airborne Radar.
