Abstract

This article is devoted to the Council the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, which operated in the years 1919–1939. Institution established in 1919, together with reactivated college in Vilnius. At its head was appointed dean of the group of professors of the Faculty of Law. The fi rst dean was professor Alfons Parczewski. For cases handled by the Council reckoned among others: the organization of educational process and scientifi c, budgetary issues. Council approve doctoral colloquia, including doctors Stanisław Swianiewicz, Witold Świda and Michał Krol. Delivered an applications concerned the postdoctoral lecturing qualifi cation doctors Iwo Jaworski, Witold Krzyżanowski, Adam Chełmoński, Wiktor Sukiennicki. In October 1924 a resolution was passed by the assumption journal Rocznik Prawniczy Wileński, which was published in 1925. Acts of war have prevented the continued operation of the Council. Its members began in the postwar years as the scientifi c work of polish and foreign universities. Professors Jan Adamus and Bolesław Wilamowski continued his career at the University of Łodź, and on the American continent, inter alia, professor Stanisław Swianiewicz.
