Abstract

Several prior reports have shown that black patients with critical limb ischemia are substantially more likely than white patients to undergo major amputation. However, data available on the scope of this issue in the contemporary era of peripheral arterial disease management is scarce. Thus, the aim of this study was to determine whether racial disparities in lower extremity amputation continue to exist and whether differences in attempts at limb salvage contribute to this disparity.
