Abstract

(Abstracted from J Minim Invasive Gynecol 2023;30(8):627–634) One of the most common gynecological procedures performed within the United States, the trends of hysterectomy types have changed over the past 30 years, with the 1990s demonstrating predominantly abdominal hysterectomies, whereas current trends tend to favor minimally invasive hysterectomies (MIHs) using laparoscopic or vaginal routes. In addition, within the hysterectomy trend, it is notable that higher rates of abdominal hysterectomy and postoperative complications occur for Black and Hispanic women as seen across varying health care systems.
