Abstract

Reports from the USA, the UK, and elsewhere repeatedly show racial and ethnic disparities in enrolment into clinical trials, with accompanying calls to action.1–3 A recent analysis of study enrolment at the NIH-funded Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities initiative found substantial variation across sites in the ability to meet accrual targets, with investigators reporting many obstacles to accrual.4 To address challenges to the recruitment of diverse study populations, faculty members at Baylor College of Medicine, in collaboration with the Intercultural Cancer Council, have completed a 4-year effort aimed at increasing the representation of minority and underserved populations in clinical trials.
