Creating a safe space for open conversations about race and social justice should be the first important step addiction treatment organizations take in pursuing meaningful action during this time of national dialogue, according to two prominent trainers interviewed this month by ADAW. But more must be done beyond that to make the addiction treatment setting more attractive to persons of color — both for those seeking services and those wanting to climb the ranks in the professional field, they say.
