Abstract

Fetal growth standards determine which fetuses are diagnosed with fetal growth restriction (FGR) and are candidates for enhanced fetal monitoring and Doppler ultrasound. These standards can be customized based on race and other characteristics. With the persistence of disproportionately elevated rates of perinatal morbidity in the black community, as well as the increasing use of customized fetal growth standards, we sought to determine the impact of race-based customization on racial disparities in obstetric care.
