Abstract

ABSTRACT Aortoenteric fistula is a rare medical emergency that carries a high risk of mortality. In cases that present without gastrointestinal bleeding, it can be difficult to accurately diagnose and, therefore, properly manage. This case depicts a patient who presented with diffuse abdominal pain and obstipation. After imaging, esophagogastroduodenoscopy, and surgery, he was found to have an aortoduodenal fistula with an infected graft. Our case highlights the importance of maintaining a high index of suspicion for an aortoenteric fistula in a patient with vague abdominal symptoms and a significant history of vascular grafts.
