Abstract

Insect pest succession on chilli crop against thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis (Hood) was studies during 2014-2015 at the Horticulture Farm, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.). During the course of study four insect species viz., Thrips ( Scirtothrips dorsalis ), aphid ( Aphis gossypii ), whitefly ( Bemisia tabaci ), fruit borer ( Helicoverpa armigera ) and mite ( Polyphagotarsonemus latus ) were noticed causing damage at various groth stages of crop. Majority of the insects are active from vegetative to fruiting stages of crop (February to June). The peak population of thrips ( Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood), whiteflies ( Bemisia tabaci Genn) and fruit borer ( Helicoverpa armigera ) were observed on chilli crop from mid April to mid May with 45.86, 6.28 and 1.56 insect per plant.
