Abstract

A clear understanding of oral immunization responses in animal models of infectious diarrhea is critical for development of effective vaccines against bacterial diarrhea. Work in this laboratory has demonstrated the feasibility of primary in vitro immunization of rabbit Peyer’s patch (PP) antibody by RDEC-1 E. coli pilus protein (1) with’detection of an antigen-specific antibody response (2). Our objective was to develop an in vitro microculture system to demonstrate a primary (T cell) proliferative response to Concanavalin A (Con A) mitogen stimulation and KLH immunization by lamina propria (LP) and Peyer’s patch (PP) cells.KeywordsLamina PropriaProliferative ResponseKeyhole Limpet HemocyaninLamina Propria LymphocyteLamina Propria CellThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
