Abstract

The archives of the British Mandate Government of Palestine contain records concerning the ancient Lower Aqueduct at Bethlehem, made in 1940 by R. W. Hamilton and D. C. Baramki. They are relevant to recent publications as well as to the descriptions left by earlier visitors, such as the pilgrims Arculf (7th century) and Felix Fabri (15th century), which may shed light on who had access to the water in the aqueduct systems.
