Abstract

Abstract After a brief recall of the history of Raman spectroscopy, the article presents a summary of the most recent developments in micro‐Raman instrumentation – point analysis and imaging techniques – including the use of confocal optics and line illumination that are now available in most of the commercial instruments. Some examples of Raman mapping are presented, illustrating the powerfulness of the Raman technique.
