Abstract

The present paper attempts to highlight the different types of Qur’anic intertexuality in Safiyuddeen Al-Hilli’s (died 750 A H) poetry as well as the influence of the glorious Qur’an on the poetry of this poet who descended from Al-Hilla, whose name has towered up and whose voice has risen high. In fact, Al-Hilli has drunk from the stream of the glorious Qur’an the most pleasant meanings, the purest expressions and the ways of intertextuality he has adopted in his poetry. We try to prove to history that the historians of literature have defamed his picture and fabricated lies towards him simply for one reason: his praise of Ahlul-Bait(the people of the PropheticHouse)(Peace be upon them), his imitation of their steps and his unmasking of their opponents.(We have another paper concerning that.)The methodology of the present paper has necessitated its division into an introduction, a preface and three chapters. We have indicated in the Introduction the reasons of choosing this title as well as its importance. In the Preface we have recorded Al-Hilli’s cultural biography together with the features of his age and environment. Chapter One studies ways of intertextuality of the Qur’anic vocable, which is known as the formal structure. We mean by that what the poet has used of the Qur’anic vocabularywith their Qur’anic meanings and religious signification. Chapter Two deals with the different types of intertextuality of the Qur’anic structure.Chapter Three studies the influence of the incidents in the Qur’anic stories and their events on the poet, together with the different types of intertextuality with the Qur’anic meaning in these stories and the range of his exploitation of the viewpoints in emphasizing a contemporary status to be disambiguated through the content of such stories.
