Abstract

A 17-year-old boy was evaluated for renal colic without stone passage. He had normal physical and mental development, with surgical repair for cryptorchidism at the age of 4 years. In early childhood, he experienced episodes of sore throat accompanied by diffuse joint pain, diagnosed as acute rheumatic fever. Starting in adolescence, he experienced arthritis of the metatarsophalangeal joints, wrists, fingers, and knees. He also reported episodes of renal colic since the age of 12 years. The patient was an only child of a nonconsanguineous union.
