Abstract

A 60-year-old woman presenting a palpable mass in the upper outer quadrant of the right breast was referred to our hospital. Two years prior, she had undergone a right lumpectomy and radiation therapy for a T1 adenoid cystic carcinoma; axillary lymph nodes were negative. Six months after the end of radiation therapy, she complained of persistent discomfort in her right breast and noticed an indurated zone near the lumpectomy scar. A fine needle aspiration was performed upon the results of mammograms and ultrasound examination (Fig. 1), and a diagnosis of a benign inflammatory reaction was done.
