Abstract
The stems of Vismia martiana have been shown to contain sitosterol, dammaradienol, betulic acid, friedelin, euxanthone, 1,1′,8,8′-tetrahydroxy-3,3′-dimethyl-6,6′-dimethoxy-7,7′-( trans-3-methyl-1-butenyl)-10, 10′-bianthrone ( meso and ±), chrysophanic acid, madagascin, vismiaquinone B, vismiaquinone and its isomer called vismiaquinone C, the structure of which was shown to be 7-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-physcion.
