Abstract

Electrical storm (ES) is a serious clinical syndrome, which is commonly observed in the rapidly expanding population of patients with an implantable cardioverter– defibrillator (ICD) [1]. The development of ES seems to be a powerful prognostic marker of increased mortality among ICD recipients [2]. Therefore, both prompt identification of the potential triggering factors and immediate management have major clinical significance. We report on a patient with an ICD and known ischemic cardiomyopathy who presented with intractable ES and in whom recurrences of ventricular tachycardia (VT) were successfully suppressed by oral quinidine bisulphate.
